District 1 County Representative
I’ve been a caregiver since 1998, but an IHSS provide since 2007. I care passionately about people who are home bound, or live with disabilities, and aren’t able to do everything for themselves. I took care of my grandmother for the last 5 months of her life, and I’ve taken care of my client Betty for nearly 10 years.
IHSS means that our clients will receive the best care possible in their homes. For many of our clients, we aren’t just their caregivers, we fill the role of family members as well. Being active in UDW means that together we are protecting the IHSS program on which our clients rely. If an attack on IHSS ever resulted in the loss of the program, seniors and people with disabilities could be left alone or in institutions. Being an active member as well as a caregiver is a stressful job, but all in all, it’s worth it. We care for our clients, so we have to work hard to care for the home care program.
